Call it consensual, composed voyeurism. Photographer Gail Albert Halaban follows up with her first New-York-based series of photographs with this version shot in Paris, detailing the lives of her neighbours in the City of Love in Paris Views. Halaban spoke with the people in their apartments and sought their permission to photograph them in various scenes, but this also adds another dimension to her work. Do we behave differently in our own homes if we knew someone was watching? Is there still such a thing as privacy in such an increasingly busy and overcrowded world? And which would we rather sacrifice — our own personal spaces, or the ability to connect and reach out to others anytime, anywhere?
