Sometimes a filmmaker slides into a stereotype, their works become categorised and so much less romanticised. Takeshi Miike‘s film “Hara Kiri”, is an attempt to break a mould his films have been cast in. The man behind “13 Assassins”, minimises the blood and focuses on visual narrative in an overtly subtle story about love and relationships fittingly set in the post-samurai period. Miike’s ardent fans may dismay, but this artful film is sure to sway most neutrals.
