Nguan is a Singaporean photographer who has been presenting a unique and uncommon view of the country as we know it. Tinged in pastel, with hints of nostalgia, Nguan describes his photographs as expressing “big city yearning, ordinary fantasies, and emotional globalisation.” He captures moments that seem quite ordinary at first glance, but are deeply poignant upon a second look. Familiar sights are given centerstage in Nguan’s work, making the viewer think again about the place that we’ve come to call home.
Nguan’s photographs are in the permanent collection of the Singapore Art Museum. See more of his work here.
