One might have to look twice to realise that the image above is not a photograph. In fact, it’s an oil painting. Yes, you read that right.

Even a double take might not suffice to convince most that this image was not captured with a camera’s click. Florida-based photorealist painter Doug Bloodworth went a step further and admitted that he starts each work on a clean blank canvas, not with the help of grids.

His extraordinary collection of hyper-realistic artworks emanates palpable American nostalgia at its best, by combining old-school sweets and vintage comics. Bloodworth admits that his paintings might take up to two months to complete, but as seen, the wait is all worth it.
