Comfortably nestled in the heart of Northern Sweden foliage is a quiet visual cacophony of breathtaking tree houses, designed by Scandinavia’s leading architects to incorporate beautiful contemporary design with untouched woodland. Suspended half a meter above ground, the concept of Treehotel took a leaf from Swedish direct-actor Jonas Selberg Augustsén’s film “The Tree Lover”, a philosophic tale of three men who uprooted from city life to plant themselves and live in a tree house together.
Unique, thematic rooms were built to flit into the forest of Harads without compromising the integrity of Mother Nature – with eco-friendly construction techniques and rooms that were built with even roaming birds in mind. The almost-invisible room, The Mirrorcube, was constructed to be almost unnoticeable from certain angles, even for birds flying around. Their solution: to cover the walls with infrared film, which is invisible to humans but highly visible to birds.
Treehotel is a love affair between architecture and nature. Of course, not forgetting experiencing the enchanting northern lights in the comforts of your own modern “tree house”. It sounds almost dream-like, almost impossible, but right here in Harads, you’re pleasantly awake in your own dream.
