Not many sports can boast an equal playing field between men or women, but table tennis comes close. One of Singapore’s most feted sports, it requires a minimum of two players, constituting a form of dialogue between the players on opposite sides. In this work by Singapore-based artist Lee Wen, the structure and rules of table tennis are reinvented in the context of contemporary possibilities. Labelled as an interactive art exhibit, the portable Ping-Pong Go-Round has toured the world since its creation in 1998, most recently gaining exposure at the Art Basel festival in Hong Kong.
