Using vintage postcards, Italian artist Caterina Rossato creates 3-D collages with X-Acto knifes by cutting up layers of cards and reassembling them. It’s interesting that she chooses to use postcards, which often enable us to live vicariously through our friends and family who are traveling abroad. The postcard is fast becoming a dying method of communication, and Rossato breathes new life into them through her artwork, turning flat, 2D images into lifelike pieces — giving the recipient the opportunity to almost be there in person.
